ABOUT
WHO WE ARE
Our society is dedicated to fostering a community of students who are passionate about international affairs and global issues. We provide opportunities for students to engage with each other through various events and activities, and to learn from experts in the field of international relations. We believe that by bringing students together, we can create a more informed and connected community that is better equipped to tackle the complex challenges facing our world today. We welcome students from all backgrounds who are interested in expanding their horizons in foreign affairs and improving the world.

OUR ACTIVITIES
On a regular basis, we invite prominent speakers to present on topics related to International Relations. Last year, we have welcomed speakers such as Klaus Welle, former Secretary General of the European Parliament, and Anwar Choudhury, former UK Ambassador and High Commissioner to Bangladesh and Peru. In previous years, we have hosted Rory Stewart, Ziauddin Yousafzai, and former Canadian Foreign Secretary John Baird. Additionally, we take part in the annual London Universities Diplomatic Summit.

Our trips have included a tour of the International Maritime Organization, a United Nations agency responsible for regulating maritime transport. We have also visited several embassies, including those of the United States, Poland, Argentina, Germany, Nepal, and China, where we met with Heads of Mission or high profile diplomats. Notably, our society has sent delegates to the annual Humanitarian Affairs Asia Peace Conference held at the UN Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. These events are complemented by our dynamic range of social activities, such as a "Dress Like a World Leader Halloween Party".

WHAT OUR MEMBERS SAY
"Being a member of the International Relations Society has been an incredibly enriching experience. The embassy visits are fascinating; having never been inside an embassy before, I found them to be an interesting look behind the scenes of diplomacy. The Polish and Chinese embassies were particularly memorable—both offered small gifts. The committee is professional and full of friendly people, which is reflected in the welcoming membership. As a physics student, I never felt out of place, so don't hesitate to join just because you don't study international relations." - Henry 2nd Year Physics student
